Jim Houghtaling
RD Jim was dead on his feet when he finally made it to the end of the dam. In order to break the 8 hour mark, Jim had to maintain a swift jog the entire length of the dirt road. It paid off with a PR finish of 7:54:56 in his third Wakely. After a short swim, two Gatorades and a change of clothes, nothing could be finer than a cold beer and having your crew cook you a steak dinner... and that's just what happened. A great end to a great day.
After 3 days camping and then running 32.6 miles, a dip
in the flow not only cools the body, but serves as the week's bath.
